I think it will be really interesting to see how this pans out. Definitely moving in the right direction.

The drastic jump in salary is intriguing. 250%.

If this were to become a longterm statewide/national policy would people start to pursue teaching gigs for the cash, similar to other well-paid professions on that level (lawyers, etc.)? Begs the question, "Can teachers be effective without passion?" Good salesmen can sell about anything without a passion for it.

Salary being a deterrent vs. salary as a motivator.

An increase in salaries would also lead to increased competition in the job market. "Can teachers be effective without passion?" Maybe, maybe not. Either way, more people going for the job will (insha'allah) make it a more competitive job to get and hold.
