You know that point in your life when you realize that the house that you grew up in isn't really your home anymore? All of the sudden even though you have some place where you can put your stuff that idea of home is gone. It just sort of happens one day one day and it's just gone. And you can never get it back. It's like you get homesick for a place that doesn't exist. I mean it's like this rite of passage, you know. You won't have this feeling again until you create a new idea of home for yourself, you know, for you kids, for the family you start, it's like a cycle or something. I miss the idea of it. Maybe that's all family really is. A group of people who miss the same imaginary place.

I'm quoting Garden State. Deal with it.

I can relate ... I miss my imaginary place. Starts to really hit "home" when they rent out your old room to some international students, or worse turned it into the SPARE ROOM. Oh well. Hugs ... any more bad dreams ? I had a mouse chasing me in mine.
Check my blog for my bad dream last nite. I miss you dear and am thinking about you! I hope that the silver lining is shining through for you.
I'm picturing this car-sized mouse chasing Jen down the streets of NYC...EEK! Maybe I'll set my huge imaginary snake on it! Lucky for me, the snake dream was the last of my bad dreams...no spiders in this bed AliG, which I'm very glad of. Anyway, miss you guys!
Can't be more true for me 2, I was welcomed "home" at Christmas time to a shinny newly built house- and guided to "my" room which consists of two twin beds and beige wall- otherwise known as the Guest Bedroom. sweeeet.
I can relate. My parents built a new house when I was 13 (the age I left home) and when it was completed a year later, there was no "dody's" room; it wasn't needed and I wasn't going back.
My room looks exactly the same as when I left it two years ago, and my house has only minor adjustments. I guess in my case it has been gutted of the feeling of home in a more figurative sense. It hit me this week to what extent that feeling has faded. I'm ok with it.
